Survival Strategies

Survival Strategies
Shock and outrage are spewing all over the media, yet is anyone really surprised to learn that Rupert Murdoch's thug brigade bought off the London Metropolitan Police, hacked cell phones of a murdered child's family, the Royal family, and victims of 9/11?  It is perfectly consistent with his style. He's looking more and more like a James Bond villain.
What goes on inside a mind like that? Murdoch, with the Koch Brothers, Wall Street Bankers, and many more, seems disconnected from humanity, andw Whatever drives them comes in even deadlier versions:  Muammar Gaddafi, Ratko Mladic. the late unlamented Saddam Hussein, Idi Amin, and the whole evil panoply before them, smart, strong, wily, and without an atom of feeling for other human beings.  The bestial Pol Pot, who murdered over two million of his own Cambodian people was only trying to create an agrarian "paradise." He had a "theory," you see, and that made him an Ideologue. Ideologues act on Principle. (Heaven help us!)
"Survival of the fittest" comes into the picture.: kindness, cruelty, love, hate, joy, fear, are simply survival strategies. In this view, whichever survives is "good."
If it turns out that ruthlessness, selfishness, cruelty, and supreme indifference to pain and suffering are the best survival strategies, Stop the World! I want to get off!

Being 90 years in this world,  with great kids,  great grandkids, great wives (two, one at a time) and great memories, I wonder why some people seem to have stopped loving the U.S.A.? I will wonder in print right here. If you wonder too, or can provide some answers, please comment.
