Here’s the essence of trickle-down theory: slash taxes and government regulation so business will expand and hire workers. It has never worked, never will, and its advocates know it.
Business expands when business picks up. Sales is the key. Squeeze customers—the middle class—sales slump, jobs disappear, and the economy tanks.
So what is behind tax and regulations bashing? It depends on who is doing the bashing. There are three, maybe four groups.
1. Innocents, the ignorant, the apathetic, the alienated, the dupes.
2. Those who want to bring down Obama by tanking the economy. These conniving snakes put politics above our country.
3. Those who don’t need sales because they only manipulate money: banks, hedge funds, securities traders, tax loophole moochers, and companies with huge overseas hoards they’d like to “repatriate” without being taxed. These blood-sucking leeches are harder to eradicate than head lice because they slop lots of grease into the palms of those in group 2.
Michele Bachmann would seem to be in groups 1 and 2, but she gave away her real motive when she said that the reason she’d worked for the IRS as a tax lawyer was to “know thine enemy.” Bachmann considers the U.S.A. her enemy, thus defines herself as an enemy of the U.S.A. This puts her into a fourth group:
4. Anti-Americans bent on destroying the U.S.A.
