A Fair Share

7/18/2011

When we were fighting Hitler in WW2, it was patriotic to pay taxes and buy Victory bonds. Now, radical right blight and dollar-retentive Tea Party poopers paint themselves as patriotic for refusing to pay to live in the greatest country in the world.  It is time to rescue patriotism from these parasites.
So-called Americans for Tax Reform, started by rich  brat, Grover Norquist,  has little to do with taxes and nothing to do with "reform." Besides paying him a hefty salary for his part-time job running it, ATF came in handy laundering funds  for Jack Abramoff, who took payoffs from Native American tribes,  Oliver North, who skimmed money from arms sales to Iran, then illegally passed it to Nicaraguan rebels, and who knows who else?
You can snicker at their simple-minded self-justifications, along with "refudiate," "misunderestimate," and other Sarah Palin howlers, but something ominous lurks beneath the bubble-brained surface.
Democracies of, by, and for the people, function with "the consent of the governed," and must  be paid for by them too. Refusing a fair share is not "anti-tax," it is anti-American. Tax-dodgers masquerading as ideological tax-haters, reveal themselves for the subversive America-haters that they are. It is time to expose their charade, call their bluff, force them to show their grubby money-stained hands.

Being 90 years in this world,  with great kids,  great grandkids, great wives (two, one at a time) and great memories, I wonder why some people seem to have stopped loving the U.S.A.? I will wonder in print right here. If you wonder too, or can provide some answers, please comment.
