101% American

8/11/2011

Below is a paragraph by Joe Nocera, NY Times, August 9, 1011
“I keep waiting for one wealthy, well-known figure to stand up and say publicly that he or she is willing to pay more in taxes as part of the shared sacrifice necessary to gain control of the country’s deficit. I know there are wealthy people who’ve had that thought—not just liberals like Warren Buffet, but old-fashioned rock-ribbed Republicans who are worried about the country’s debt problems. I even have a pretty good idea who some of them are. Come on, folks, your country needs to hear from you.”
While Joe is waiting to hear from those wealthy citizens, how about some un-wealthy action? My site is named 101%American,com. The extra 1% is a percentage of income tax to be paid directly to the US Treasury against the deficit. It won’t solve anything and even a million like me won’t. But anyway...
I emailed Senator Chuck Schumer asking for the exact address to send my check, but so far, no answer. If anyone reading this knows the address, please put it in a Comment, or send to me, StuHodes@Hodesshows.com. My check is ready. When I get the address, I’ll send it and post the address.

I hope you get that reply. If you do, my check's in the mail too. I just wish the rich folks and corporations would do their part.

Matt Damon just went on record and stated that all Americans making over $5 million a year should be taxed at 50%. He says he can afford to pay it and so can a lot of his Hollywood friends. But voices like his are drowned out by the greedy and selfish contingent who own the American media. The corporate media only serves to voice the opinions of their wealthy owners and shareholders. Aside from a handful of progressive blogs, has any corporate news or entertainment channel reported on Matt Damon's statement? *Silence*

Being 90 years in this world,  with great kids,  great grandkids, great wives (two, one at a time) and great memories, I wonder why some people seem to have stopped loving the U.S.A.? I will wonder in print right here. If you wonder too, or can provide some answers, please comment.
